Brändu fishing village

Brändu lacks historical roots from the 1600s or earlier, and it might not be considered a must-see destination. However, if you're looking at a map of the area, it's useful to know what's located there.

On one of the boathouses, there's a nameplate that says "Bränndu" with two n's, instead of the name that seems to have spread: Brändu.

Geographical Features

The Lausholmar islands lie offshore. The first is Skarpholmen. Then comes Gräsholmen, and furthest to the east, Storholmen.

Historical Context

Brändu is a relatively modern fishing village. It's said that residents from Lau began fishing for eel here in the 1940s. Therefore, it's not a place for cultural connoisseurs; for those, we usually recommend Tomtbod in the neighboring parish of Burs.

For Nature Lovers and Birdwatchers

Brändu is a good spot for nature lovers and birdwatchers (note that there are bird towers on both the western and eastern sides of Närsån).
